Indigenous Commission Launched to Focus on Information Communications Technologies NEW YORK (May 23, 2007) --- An Indigenous Commission for Development of Communications Technologies (ICT’s) in the Americas was launched today at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues meeting in New York. The Commission’s goals are to bring Indigenous peoples together with industry and relevant agencies to promote and support the use of ICT’s for legal, political, social, educational, cultural, spiritual and economic development. read more here >>>
Identification of ICT Needs in Indigenous Communitees - FINAL REPORT (PDF) In accordance with ISAP Project Nr. X7010205 of the International Telecommunications Union, ITU, the project “Regional Initiative to facilitate and promote telecommunications development in Indigenous communities of the Americas Region” seeks to facilitate and promote telecommunications development in Indigenous communities of the Americas.

What are ICT’s?
ICT is a term used to define “information and communications technologies”. These include all forms of these technologies including radio, phone/fax, internet, voice-over-internet protocol (VOIP), tele-centres, video and audio conferencing, CD’s and DVD’s.
